Privacy Policy

1. Introduction

Shuq (“we,” “our,” or “us”) respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and protect your information when you use our mobile app (“the App”). By using Shuq, you agree to this policy.

2. Information We Collect

a. Account Data

When you create an account, we collect specific data depending on your login method.

• Email Authentication: We collect your email address. We use a One-Time Password (OTP) system, so we do not collect or store any passwords.
• Google & Facebook Authentication: If you sign in using third-party providers, we receive your basic public profile information as permitted by those platforms, which includes your name, email address, and profile picture. We do not have access to your Google or Facebook passwords.

b. Ad Content

When you post an ad, we collect details like title, description, category, location, price, photos, videos, phone number, and duration.

c. Device & Usage Data

We automatically collect information such as device model, OS version, app version, IP address, and crash logs through Firebase to improve app performance.

d. Payment Data

Payments are processed through Pesapal. We do not store your card information. We only save transaction ID, amount, currency, and date for record purposes.

e. Location Data

We do not use GPS. Only the text-based location you provide (like district or city) is stored.

3. Media and Storage

• Photos are stored securely on Supabase.
• Videos are stored via Cloudflare Stream, and only their links are saved in Supabase.
• Data and media are deleted automatically when your ad expires or when you delete them manually.

4. How We Use Your Data

We use the data we collect to:

• Create and display your ads to the public.
• Verify ad content and prevent illegal listings.
• Process payments and manage receipts.
• Improve app functionality and fix errors.
• Communicate with you regarding support or moderation issues.

We do not sell your data to anyone.

5. Content Moderation

Any ad that violates our policy or contains illegal content will be rejected or removed. If you believe your content was removed unfairly, contact us via email or WhatsApp with your proof of ownership.

6. Data Retention & Backups

• Ads and data are kept for up to 2 months after expiry.
• Media files are stored for 2 months after expiry.
• Supabase automatically creates daily backups (retained for 7 days).
• You can delete your data anytime from your account menu. When deleted, all related photos/videos are also removed.

7. Data Security

We take strong measures to protect your data:

• All data is transmitted using HTTPS.
• Supabase and Cloudflare provide encryption at rest.
• Row Level Security (RLS) is active for all user data.
• Admin accounts require two-factor authentication (2FA).
• Daily backups and crash monitoring are in place.

8. Children’s Privacy

Shuq is only for users aged 13 and above. We do not knowingly collect information from children. If we find such data, it will be deleted immediately.

9. Analytics & Tracking

We use Firebase Analytics to understand how users interact with our app and improve performance. The data is anonymous and not used for ads or tracking.

10. Cookies & Local Storage

We do not use cookies. However, we use local storage on your phone to temporarily save draft ads and app preferences.

11. Data Location & Legal

• Data is stored in Supabase (U.S. region) and Cloudflare servers worldwide.
• This Privacy Policy is governed by the laws of the Republic of Uganda.

12. Your Rights & Account Deletion

You have the right to:

• Access your data.
• Delete your account and related data.
• Request correction of inaccurate information.
• Ask for data export (we can send a CSV file upon request).

13. Updates to This Policy

We may update this policy when necessary. The “Last Updated” date at the top will show the latest version.
